Tommy DeVito Wins Second Straight Start as Giants Outlast Patriots

The New York Giants beat the New England Patriots 10-7 on Sunday. The Giants rise to 4-8 and are officially on a winning streak.

Patriots’ placekicker Chad Ryland missed a 35-yard field goal attempt with :06 remaining that wold have forced overtime.

It was a cold, rainy afternoon in East Rutherford N.J., and a far cry from the classic games between the Giants and Patriots we all remember. This was a plodding and often ugly affair that could generously be called a “defensive struggle” that ultimately ended on a missed field goal as time expired.

In such a game it often comes down to which team makes the most mistakes, and in this case that was definitely the Patriots.

Giants QB Tommy DeVito was 17 0f 25 for 191 yards. Saquon Barkley had 12 carries for 46 yards.

Mac Jones started at QB for the Patriots and was replaced by Bailey Zappe, both could not get anything going.

The Giants will face the Green Bay Packers (5-6) in Week 14.

Jets Fall to Dolphins 34-13

In the New York Jets’ 11th game of the 2023 NFL season, in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on a cool and sunny afternoon, the Jets were blown out by the Miami Dolphins, 34 – 13.

The first half saw the Jets offense put up just 54 yards of offense and zero points on the way to a 17 – 6 deficit. The Jets defense held the high octane Dolphins offense to 10 points, picked off Tua Tagovailoa twice, and still the Jets trailed by double digits at the half.

To add insult to injury, the Jets offense gave up a 99 yard pick six to the Dolphins on a Tim Boyle Hail Mary pass as time expired in the half.

The Jets offense had barely even moved the ball forward all game. The Dolphins opened the fourth quarter and quickly put up a touchdown. The rest was just garbage time.

The Jets controlled the ball on offense for the large majority of the fourth quarter, but they were unable to score until there was less than five minutes left in the game. Tim Boyle threw to Garrett Wilson for a touchdown but it was far too little, far too late. The Dolphins tacked on a late touchdown to make the final score Dolphins 34, Jets 13.

With the loss the Jets fall to 4-7 on the season. Now the Jets have nine days to prepare for a home game against the Atlanta Falcons.
