Giants Collapse Late as Broncos Rally for 33-32 Victory

Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos almost blew a 19-point comeback Sunday afternoon. Somehow, they walked away with a 33-32 win over the New York Giants.

After trailing for much of the game, the Broncos came alive and scored 22 unanswered points to jump ahead late at Mile High Stadium. Quarterback Bo Nix rushed for an 18-yard touchdown with 1:51 remaining to put the Broncos up 30-26.

Dart then had a short touchdown run with just 31 seconds left. Kicker Jude McAtamney missed his second extra point of the day, however, leaving the Giants up by just two points.

That miss left the door open for the Broncos, who crossed midfield almost immediately and a field goal give the Broncos the wild one-point win.

In the end, the Broncos scored all 33 points in the final quarter. Each of their scoring drives took less than a minute of game time.

Dart, who has given the Giants a jolt of life since taking over the starting job for Russell Wilson, went 15-of-33 passing for 283 yards with three touchdowns in the loss. He threw a bad interception late, which set up a 2-yard touchdown pass from Nix to R.J. Harvey to cut the score to 26-23 with 3:51 left.

Jets Lose to Panthers, Now 0-7 On the Season

In a game that saw the Jets and the Panthers play four quarterbacks, points were hard to come by on both sides as Carolina escaped MetLife Stadium with a 13-6 victory on Sunday. The Jets fell to 0-7 while the Panthers moved to 4-3 with their third consecutive win.

The Jets turned to backup QB Tyrod Taylor in the second half. With the Jets facing a 13-3 deficit, Taylor entered with 10:36 remaining in the third quarter. HC Aaron Glenn decided to make the QB change after Justin Fields went 6 of 12 in the first half for 46 yards and was sacked 3 times.

Backup Andy Dalton finished the game for the Panthers after Bryce Young exited with an ankle injury in the third quarter.

After the game, Glenn was non-committal on whom will start for the Jets next week in Cincinnati against the Bengals.

“I understand the nature of the quarterback change,” Glenn said. “We needed a spark. At that time, I felt like it was the right time to do it. Obviously, a tough situation for both of those guys. But it was my call and I felt like it was the right time to do it.”
