The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees 7-6 on Wednesday, winning the eighth World Series in franchise history.

Down five runs through four innings, the Dodgers comeback victory is the largest in a clinching game in World Series history.

It is the Dodgers’ first World Series title since 2020.

It is a win few observers saw coming when the postseason began, even for one of the most talented lineups in baseball. With a rotation ravaged by injuries, the Dodgers overwhelmed opponents on offense and got just enough quality pitching to make it work.

Freddie Freeman, who homered in a record four straight games to open the Fall Classic, was named a deserving World Series MVP after the game.

The New York Giants and primetime football simply don’t mix and that trend stayed true on Monday night as Big Blue fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 26-18, in a game they arguably could have won.

The Pittsburgh Steelers made it three wins in a row with Calvin Austin scoring two touchdowns. The 25-year-old wide receiver scored the Steelers’ first punt return touchdown in nearly five years during the third quarter.

The victory was tied up in the fourth quarter when quarterback Russell Wilson found Austin with his signature ‘moon ball’ throw.

Rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr got the Giants back in it with a 45-yard touchdown, but Steelers cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr sealed the win by intercepting on the Giants’ final drive.

One week after being called “soft” by their head coach, the New England Patriots let their play do the talking.

The Patriots earned a hard-fought 25-22 victory over the New York Jets in Sunday’s Week 8 matchup. 

Running back Rhamondre Stevenson scored the game-winning touchdown with 22 seconds left to cap off an impressive Jacoby Brissett-led drive. Brissett replaced starting quarterback Drake Maye after the rookie exited in the second quarter with a concussion.

It was far from a perfect day for Jerod Mayo’s group. New England’s wide receivers tallied seven drops, but second-year wideout Kayshon Boutte stepped up when it mattered most with two huge plays to set up Stevenson’s game-winner.

Jets QB Rodgers completed 17 of 28 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns, hitting Garrett Wilson five times for 113 yards. Breece Hall ran for 80 yards on 16 carries, and Braelon Allen scored on a 2-yard run.
